It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Julien Monette, who died peacefully on September 15, 2025 at 82 years old, after a period of physical and mental decline. Though his final years were marked by health challenges, Julien will be remembered for the warmth, strength, and love he shared throughout his life.
Julien is survived by his daughter, Kim (Steph); his grandsons, Riley (Simona) and Noah; and his great-grandson, Elio. He was predeceased by his son Jason, and his wife Karen, with whom he is now reunited. He will also be deeply missed by his many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
An outdoorsman at heart, Julien found his greatest joy in nature—whether fishing and hunting with family or enjoying a round of golf with friends. After retiring, he and Karen fulfilled their dream of settling in Monetville, where they built a home together and enjoyed their retirement years.
Julien was a quiet yet constant presence in Kim’s life. Although not related by blood, theirs was a true father-daughter bond of the heart. For nearly 45 years, he offered her unwavering support and encouragement, and in difficult times, they were able to rely on each other. Their relationship was built on trust and respect, with Julien’s integrity and kindness at its foundation. Even as Alzheimer’s and dementia later took much of his memory, his love for Kim endured. He always greeted her with a radiant smile and open arms — a lasting testament to the depth of their bond.
Julien’s role as a grandfather was one he embraced with love and pride, and his bond with Riley and Noah was one of the most meaningful chapters of his life. To him, being a grandfather meant not only love, but also passing down the traditions and passions that defined his life. The time spent together - sharing his love of the outdoors while entertaining the boys with stories of his life – helped shape Riley and Noah into the people they are today.
Julien’s memory will live on in the countless stories and cherished moments that speak to his humor, kindness, and resilience. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Extendicare Countryside - Long Lake, who cared for Julien with kindness and compassion in his final years.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
Crystal and I send you all our love and condolences.
