Zilio, Lino

With great sadness the Zilio family announces the passing of Lino Zilio at 87 years. Lino was a loving husband to Judith (Massey) Reynolds-Zilio and Patricia (Shea) (predeceased). Beloved father of Colleen Zilio (Perry Gauthier) and John Zilio (Cynthia Dawdy). Proud Nonno of Anthony, Colleen and Jack Zilio. Zio Lino to Marcia Lalande (Jeanno and children Erica, Andrew and Tyler) and Robert Ongarato (Barb and children Ryley and Autumn), Uncle Lino to Dianne Waite, Kenneth Shea, Andrea Perrault, and Lesha Cochrane. Cherished by his extended family members, Paul Stewart, Tina Reynolds (Charles Demjen), Cynthia Reynolds (Andrew and children Victoria and Rachel Fenton), Dax and Amika Gauthier. He was a wonderful friend and neighbour to so many. Lino was the son of Giuseppe and Geltruda Zilio and brother to Edda Ongarato and Roland Zilio, all predeceased. He will be remembered by his cousins in Canada and Italy. The family is grateful for the skill and compassion of the staff at the HSN Heart Failure Clinic, Cardiology and Bayshore Nursing. As a family, we will carry forward Lino’s sprit of optimism, integrity and love and we will continue his tradition of gatherings of friends and family with great food and wine. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Road, Sudbury on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Church after 10:00 a.m. Donations in Lino’s memory can be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Diabetes Canada.

  2. My heart aches for you and your family. I’ll never forget Lino’s generosity and graciousness, our neighbor. Just remember that a person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. Please accept our condolences, Lino will not be forgotten. My family will always have fond memories of your father. His smile and caring attitude always cheered me up, and when I trimmed my giant trees, he always advised me to take it easy. He is missed, but never forgotten. Thank you my neighbor.

  3. Colleen and John so sorry for the loss of your father. I have very fond memories of both your father and mother when I stayed with them while recovering from knee surgery. Always a good meal good wine and a spirit of warmth and caring. We shared many Ottawa Valley stories and I was glad to see him last September when in Sudbury. A gentle giant of a man. May he soar with the angels.
