Whalen, Bernard ”Bernie” 1943-2020

In loving memory of Bernard Elmo (Bernie) Whalen who passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at the age of 77, with family at his side. Loving husband of Margret Moyle (predeceased). Left to mourn are his loving sons Danny, Michael, Sean and their families. His siblings Owen Whalen, Leona Folland, and Adeline Carlson, stepchildren Kelly, Carrie, Tom and their families. Proud Grandpa, Poppa and Uncle. Bernie was born on Prince Edward Island to William and Florence Whalen, where he was raised on a farm in the community of Hunter River. After serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, he settled permanently in the Sudbury area. Bernie retired as a Millwright from INCO after 30 years of service. After this, he enjoyed his daily routines, spending time walking, hand-carving unique wooden canes, playing cards and socializing at the Minnow Lake Royal Canadian Legion. He was very well-respected by all of those whom he knew, whether they be family, old friends, newer friends, co-workers, neighbors and those people involved in the recent care that he needed. A proud Veteran, he was also a truly kind and gentle man who will be missed by all. As restrictions of Covid19 become lifted, a memorial service will be held in Sudbury.
