Margaret Isabel Weist (nee Hobbs) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Health Sciences North, Sudbury on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Clarence Roy Weist. Loving mother of Pamela (Michel), Edward (Judy), Bob (Wendy) and David (predeceased). Cherished Gram to Michael (Angel), Jeffery (Kayla), Jamie (Jeff), Kelsi, Katie (Zach), Carson, Alicia (Denys), Eric (Kim) and great grandmother of Isaac, Danica, Landon, Jeffery, Vada, Alivia, Connor, Lily, Sara and Joshua (predeceased). Born in Massey, ON, on December 3, 1935, the eldest child of James and Isabel Hobbs. She was predeceased by her siblings Velma Jane, Bob, Jenny, Jim and Jack. Left to love and remember her are her siblings Fran, Hilda, Harry, Bess and Clifford. Isabel graduated from Teachers College and taught for a short period of time before devoting her life to her family. She enjoyed curling, travelling to Florida with Clarence in the winter months and spending her summers at “the cabin” with her family in Massey, ON. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh, sense of humour and love for her family. A special thank you to Peggy and Julie from the 6th floor at HSN for their compassionate care. In keeping with Isabel’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Isabel’s Life will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 530 Castle St. in Massey, ON. Luncheon to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her memory, directly to the NEO Kids Foundation, Toronto Sick Kids Hospital or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.
Sad to hear of Belle’s passing and that Clarence had pre-deceased her. These two were very good to my parents through their life and to me during both of my parents end of life hospital stays and I will remember them fondly. I always have a little grin when I look at Belle’s Raisin pie recipe.
