Watts, Gerald Francis “Wattssy”

In Loving Memory of Gerald Francis Watts (Wattssy) 67 years.  Passed away peacefully with family by his side at Sudbury Health Sciences North on September 9, 2023, surrounded by love.  Gerry had a good death with dignity. Gerry fought Pancreatic Cancer for just over 2 years with faith and courage. Loving husband of Beverley Watts for 32 years.  Father to Gerry Jr. (Laura-Lynn) and loving Papa to Aniela River.  Loving stepdad to Rodney, Dennis, and Derek (predeceased). Gerry was born on February 9th, 1956 in Sudbury, ON to Ernest and Emma Watts (nee Hopkins) both predeceased.  Predeceased by his brother Bryan (Lorraine).  Survived by his brothers, Stewart (Roberta), Randy (Lisa), and sister Caroline.  Loved by many aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, cousins, brother and sister in laws.

Gerry was raised in Water’s township Walden, ON.  He worked for INCO from 1974 to 1982 until the big layoff, which was a blessing as then, he had a successful career in sales (Sears). Gerry won several gold Salesman awards throughout his over 30 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, rides, and having huge fires with friends.  Calling for moose, wolves, and anything that would call back.  Gerry had the gift of humor and when he got on a roll, he was the entertainment and life of the party.  Later in life Gerry was so delighted by the arrival of his first and only granddaughter Aniela River, he had his daily visits with his son and granddaughter throughout his illness, which gave him strength and courage.  Gerry got to bring his granddaughter for her first camping trip and boat rides just 2 months before his death.  Gerry was a believer in God and is now at peace in heaven.

Special thanks for all the prayers throughout his battle.  Thanks to all Dr’s and nurses at HSN Cancer Center, Dr. Emack oncologist and Home Care Sudbury.

A Church Service will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Trinity United Church, 217 Sixth Avenue, Lively, ON at 2:00pm.  A luncheon to follow in the Church Hall.  A private burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers donation can be made directly to the Northern Cancer Foundation https://ncfsudbury.com/

  10. So many years of history with our families and then a working relationship (I told him more than once that he was my favourite customer contact) with his buildings, Wattsy always had a big smile and a warm greeting. From the rink to the grocery store & all around Lively, it was always a pleasure stopping to chat. Rest in Peace Wattsy, sincerest condolences from the Duhamels to you all.

  14. Very Sorry to hear of Wattsy’s passing. Our families grew up just down the street from Wattsy.
Although a few years younger, fondly remember the Watts bros and Caroline. A spirited group that always treated my parents and all of us with thoughtfulness and respect. Gerry’s upbeat demeanour and sense of humour will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace.
