Vuk, Jean “Evelyn”

Evelyn “Jean” Vuk passed away peacefully in palliative care at Health Sciences North early on February 7, 2019. Jean was born January 7, 1932 to Lily and David Ellison in Toronto. The family soon moved to Hamilton where Jean graduated from Hamilton General Hospital as an R.N. It was in Hamilton that Jean met and married Mladen Vuk (predeceased) and moved with him to Sudbury. Jean worked in obstetrics at Sudbury General Hospital for many years, where she helped deliver and care for future Sudburians. Jean is lovingly remembered by her children Wendy (Jay) Phillips, David, and Jackie (Stephen) Knowles, and her grandsons Alexander, Barron, and Jarrett (Stacy). She is dearly missed by her sister Eileen (Bill, predeceased) Headon and nieces Virginia, Donna and Sharon. A celebration of life is being planned for a future date at St. Andrew’s United Church, Sudbury. The family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences North for their compassionate care that eased Jean’s passing and the staff at Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services. Memorial donations to The Kidney Foundation or Innercity Foodbank where Jean volunteered for many years would be appreciated.

  7. I was so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing yesterday. She was such a good friend to my mom, Luisa and my aunt, Maria Borges. Prior to my aunt’s death in October 2018, we hoped to visit your mom on Nicolet Street. We had such great memories and I was so thankful of your mom’s friendship with my parents and aunt. I hope your great memories of your mom help you through this difficult time.
