It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Gilles Viau on Friday, February 8th, 2019 with family by his side at Health Sciences North at the age of 82 years. Loving husband of Marilyn. Cherished father of Gaëtan (Jocelyne), Lorraine (Nicole), Christine (Norm), Marcel (Monique) and Rhéal (predeceased) (Sue). Left to mourn are his siblings Jean-Louis (Mariette), Richard (Huguette), Aurel (predeceased) (Yvette), Ernel (predeceased) (Viola), Cécile (predeceased) and Paulette (Éric) (both predeceased). He will be sadly missed by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was born in Crystal Falls to the late Wilfrid and Percide Viau (née Laframboise). Gilles will be remembered for his work as a Miner, Bus Driver, Landfill Superintendent, but most importantly as an avid fisherman and hunter. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 16th, 2019 at St-Charles Borromée Catholic Church, 31 Main Street, St-Charles at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gilles’name can be made directly to the Sudbury Foodbank.
