Thornton, Frances (1938 – 2022)

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, Fran Thornton (nee Hobbs) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She is the beloved wife of 66 years to William Thornton. Caring mother of Bill (Beth), Becky (Jack), Pat (Chris), Mina (Eddy) and Timothy (predeceased). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Jack, Tim, Tiffany, Chelsea, Patrick, Siobhan and her five great-grandkids. Franny is the dear sister of Hilda, Harry, Bess and Clifford and sister-in-law to Ray, Elaine, Ruth Anne, Sandy and Sharon. She is predeceased by her siblings Isabelle, Jim, Bob, Jack, Velma Jane and Jenny.

Fran was born in Massey to Jim and Isabel Hobbs.

She was the Charter President of the Massey Legion Ladies Auxillary. She worked as an Educational Assistant, Medical Receptionist and with the Licensing Bureau.

Always a serious competitor, she excelled at bowling and had the house stocked full of trophies to prove it.

Fran spent her life looking out for the well-being of those around her. She will be missed most of all for her great sense of humor and her distinctive laugh which brought joy to us all.

A Memorial Service will take place at the Massey Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 11:000 a.m.

Donations in her memory can be made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
