Sward, Steven E.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of “Steve” Steven Sward on November 17, 2021, at the age of 72.  Steve was the funniest and most caring man. He loved to laugh and tell jokes.  He was born on May 11, 1949, to the late Steven and Nora (nee Young) Sward. Brother to Sandra (Jim) Higgins. Uncle to Tracey (predeceased) and Nancy Higgins. Great-uncle to James, Dalton, Jessy, Wyatt, and Spencer Higgins.  Long-time best friend and chosen family to Chris and Sharon Grimard. Uncle to Steven (Brianna), Scott, and Sabrina Grimard. Great-uncle to Cordelia Grimard.  Steve was a hard-working dedicated man who was a proud member of the Greater Sudbury Police Department that served for over 30 years before retirement.  Steve will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

7 Condolences

  1. I had the pleasure and honour to work with Steve. He was the kindest and most generous soul I have ever met. You have survived 30 years plus of policing and now can Rest In Peace. Thanks for all you have done. You were a good mentor and showed me that you can be kind as a police officer.

  3. Grandpa Steve,
You’ll be missed so so so much!
I know that we didn’t get much chance to spend time with you but I’m grateful for the times we did get to see you!
I remember all those times walking through the mall as a kid and my mom would want to stop in and check at Buddy’s to see if you were sitting at the bar.
“Let’s go see if Grandpa Steve is sitting inside” my Mom would say. I wish we could have been able to see you more.
Give Grandma hugs and kisses! Love you!
I’ll meet you at the bar one day Steve!

  4. Hey Steve. The world will not be the same without your laughter but your memories will live on for ever. It was special to me that you had met my son Drayden, how he wore your police hat. That memory will live on with him forever. Please give grandma a kiss and a hug for me and it’s never goodbye,
It’s we will see you later.

  5. Steve was a very kind person.
He never missed a day of work [32 years] until his unfortunate illness.
His sense of humour was very funny to say the least, all who knew Steve will miss him
