It is with great sorrow that James (Jim) Stewart’s family announces the passing of a wonderful father and husband on December 12th, 2021. He has now joined his beloved mother Pearl Rebecca (Cunningham) Stewart and his father Hugh Wellesley Stewart.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Evelyn (Lucas) Stewart and five children. Jeff (Anna), Julie Payne (Will), Susan (Shawn), James JR. (Tanya), Hugh (Cathy). Six Grandchildren Nathan (Brianne) Joshua, Ben, Emma Payne, Quinn, Lane, and great grandson Reid Stewart. Also survived by his five siblings Lorraine, Allen, Gail, Bruce, and Murray. Jim served five years with the Royal Canadian Navy. While serving in the Navy he played for the Royal Canadian Hockey Team. He worked for Oshawa Group Food City until retirement. After his retirement he spent many mornings at YMCA Sudbury. The Toronto Maple Leafs has lost one of their biggest fans.

I am very sorry for your loss as a family. I miss chatting with Mrs. Stewart at Costco. My thoughts are with you in your time of sorrow.

As a long-time family friend, Jim was a true father to his kids, and their friends. Always accepting when I would come to visit on Boxing Day gatherings back in Highschool. He was always proud to share updates of his kids when ever we would run into each other around town. He was a man to look up to and a strong supporter of the importance of family. I will miss him. Sending hugs to the family and friends.

Jim you will be missed. I think back on the years I have known you and smile. We had a lot of adventures, and I cherish them all. My favourite memories are of our Christmas air hockey tournaments. We had so much fun. I will think of them every Christmas and smile every time I see an air hockey table.
I hope that you have peace and love.
Rest in peace.
