Steen, Edna Marie

November 28, 1920 – September 8, 2021

From a little girl born over 100 years ago into a very large French-Canadian family, (Lauzon) surviving diphtheria at a young age and a pandemic in her senior years, Edna Marie Steen passed away peacefully at Saint Gabriel Villa. Edna was a lifelong resident of Sudbury and met her much beloved husband Jack Steen at a barn dance and together they enjoyed over fifty-two years of honourable marriage. Being the wife of an Inco Hoist man and always supportive of her family, she had the privilege of being among the first group of women to go underground in Sudbury. Together they raised three wonderful children, Herb (Paulette) Steen, David (Janet) Steen and Lillian (Gilbert) Little both deceased. As a family they spent many enjoyable summers at their camp on Vermillion Lake and made many fond memories there. In their retirement years, they wintered in sunny Florida and enjoyed every moment of their time there. Edna always showed kindness and generosity to all that entered her home. She was an adoring Nana to Sheri (Dustin) Pratt Joelle (Darren) Watson, Lynn Steen (Jerome Waroux) and KatieMarie (David) Volckmann as well as many great grandchildren. The Steen family would like to give special thanks to the girls at Saint Gabriel Villa for the outstanding care and compassion they provided Edna in her final years.
