It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share of the sudden passing of Eric Shepherd, 51years on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Beloved husband of 24 years to Stephanie Shepherd. Loving and devoted father of Hunter and Alexandrea Shepherd. Born in Scarborough, ON, he was the son of Larry and Carmen Shepherd, and son-in-law of Uliana LaFlamme and Wayne LaFlamme (predeceased). Dearly loved and cherished brother of Dan Shepherd (Patty), and brother-in-law of Lisa Mitchell (James), and David LaFlamme (Alanna). He will be truly missed by many nieces and nephews.
As a father, Eric was very proud of his children and loved them deeply. His children always appreciated his teachings, and they learned valuable skills in life from him.
If you spent any time with Eric, you would know he was a big sport enthusiast. He coached competitive hockey for many years as a young adult and in the summer months over the last two decades, he enjoyed playing baseball with his friends. He would always end off the evening after the game with a bottle of Pepsi, while the rest of team were enjoying a beer.
Eric was always quick to lend a helping hand to others in their time of need. When you needed him, he was always there. He will always be remembered as a kind and loving soul. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
In Celebration of Eric Shepherd, a Funeral Mass will take place at St. Kevin’s Church, 4610 St. Therese St., Val Therese on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow in the Church Hall.
Dear Carmen and family. I join your family and friends in feeling the deep sorrow and loss that death brings. It changes everything it seems; there is a a big hole in one’s life! I send you all sincere condolences and the peaceful heart that time will eventually generously offer!

My heart goes out to our dear old friends, the Shepherd family. I wish I could thank you in person because I can not imagine my childhood without the sunshine brothers. Like his brother, Eric was well raised and loved… a good egg. It is no surprise to learn how he spread his light and touched so many other lives in his abbreviated journey in this world. Though it will not bring you much solace, know that you do not grieve alone. I wish you all strength and courage in keeping his memory alive through the most precious legacy he leaves behind… his family. From my broken heart in Gatineau to all of yours in Sudbury, I send sympathies on behalf of la famille Potvin.
