Secord, (Mary Anne) Catherine Evelyn

In Loving Memory of our mother (Mary Anne) Catherine Evelyn Secord who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the age of 87 years. Mary Anne’s husband, our father was Alphonse Secord (predeceased).

Mary Anne was a proud and loving mother to her children Alan Secord and Linda Thibeault. Mom was also proud of her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Our mother was brought into this world by parents William and Evelyn Farley (both predeceased). Mom’s siblings are Bill Farley, Frank Farley, and her favorite sister Donna Kantymir.

Mom had a great love of living at Loon Lake near Espanola, ON. Coming from the city of Toronto, Dad and Mom bought Loon Lake Lodge in 1962 as a young couple providing a living and a beautiful environment to raise a family. Many memories were built through the years sharing Loon Lake with family and friends. The Lodge closed approximately in 1980, when Dad and Mom operated a sporting goods store in the Espanola Mall called Secord’s Penalty Box. The store provided a continuing connection with the folks of Espanola and again many stories and laughs as the years went by.

Mom fortunately had the opportunity to spend the last two summers and fall at her Loon Lake, enjoying the peace and tranquility it had to offer. She was an accomplished artist and related many stories of good times with her art mates painting around the Sudbury / Espanola area including Manitoulin Island.

Our family will have a Celebration of Life in the Spring of 2024.

We love you Mom, Rest in Peace.

  1. Mary Ann was my husbands cousin. We so enjoyed and still enjoy her creative art. We have a love painting she did for our 50th wedding anniversary. I tried to let her know that cousin Pete Lovegrove passed away August 27, 2023. I thought lately that she hadn’t acknowledged his death. Now I know why. When reading this, I hope someone will contact me

  3. We are very sorry to hear this sad news. Had some good chats with your mom this summer at Loon Lake. She seemed very happy and youthful. She painted both our boys when they were little. We will miss her as part of Loon Lake’s history and as a neighbour.
