Scanlan , Rolande

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a dear wife, mother, memere, sister, and friend. Rolande Scanlan (nee Bertrand) left us after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, June 26, 2020, at the age of 85. Daughter of Omer and Lea (nee Fortin) both predeceased. She has gone to join her husband Marcel (predeceased 2011). She is survived by her son Denis (Glenda) of North Bay, and daughters Helene Marion (Marty) and Rachelle (Jennifer), both of Sudbury. Proud memere to Matthew (Lauren), Allyson (Brad), Daniel, David, Kyle (Mandy) and Graham (Tara); Great-memere to Wesley, Arley, Theo, and Max. Sister to Germaine Johnstone (late Stuart), Frances Blaseg (late Leonard), Gerry (Pauline), Paulette Rocheleau (late Ernie) and Pauline Thompson (Eddie); predeceased by brothers Rolland (Denise), Maurice (late Odette) and Henry (Margaret). Rolande was a woman of deep faith who had a great sense of humour.  She was engaged with every person who shared her company.  She loved gatherings with family and friends involving food, cards, and lively conversation.  Rolande will be missed by many. We would like to thank Christina and Jenna from Bayshore for their outstanding care.  As well, we thank Dr. Punn, the teams from Supportive Care and Shared Care, the staff from the LHIN and Terry, Jason and staff from Bradley pharmacy.  Without their support we could not have kept mom comfortable at home and in the company of her family.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations made to NEO Kids.  Due to the current pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be postponed to a later date.

  2. Dear Denis, Helene and Rachelle,

I am so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. My heartfelt condolences to you and your families.
She will always be in my heart as someone who gave me a home while I was so far away from my family. She provided comfort, stability, great food, much laughter and some tough life lessons – all SO much appreciated. She was a wonderful, warm and genuine person. Her nurturing ways are carried on by those who had the good fortune of knowing her and being guided by her. She will be missed but always fondly remembered.
