Roy, Roland “Rolly”

In loving memory of Roland Roy, 90 years, who passed away on Saturday, December 19,2020 with loving family by his side. Beloved husband for over 66 years of Thérèse Roy (née Roy). Loving father of Kyle Roy (Nicole) of Peterborough, and Ginette Roy (Jason) of Sudbury. Sadly missed by his pride and joy, his only grandchild, Kassidy Roy-Cole. Son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Virginie (née Brisson) Roy. Dear brother of Agnès (Aldé Roy), Camille (Marguerite), Annette Bédard (Rhéal), Hélène Gauthier (Roland), Eva Cataford, Lionel (Lucille), Alphonse (Geneviève), Isidore (Huguette), and Victor (Desneiges). Rolly is predeceased by all his brothers and sisters, as well as their spouses, except for his brother Alphonse’s spouse, Geneviève. Dear brother-in-law of Laura Ladouceur (Lucien), Laurette Marcoux (Laurent), Jacqueline Ladouceur (Jacques), Marcel Roy (Denise) and Claude Roy (Jeannine). Rolly is predeceased by all his in-laws except for Laura, Denise, and Jeannine. Rolly owned The Swing Away Danceland in Hagar from the 1950’s to the 1970’s. “Dancing Every Saturday Night”, where many gathered from Sudbury and as far as North Bay to dance the night away! Rolly was a real estate investor dealing mostly in the Sturgeon Falls area. He was a generous man, always willing to lend a hand to strangers and fellow friends and family. He loved music, especially a good Fiddle tune. The Holidays were always special to him, especially the famous New Years Day Party (Réveillon) at his parents’ house in Hagar. As per the family’s request, there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

    I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. I hope the good memories will help you through this time. The holidays will be tough but put on a fiddle tune and know he’s enjoying it with you.
