Rinta, Merv (1941-2018)

Merv Rinta born February 8, 1941, passed away at Sudbury Health Sciences North on Friday, July 13, 2018. Pre-deceased by his parents Gladys and Eino Rinta and brothers Norman and Eric Rinta. Sadly missed by his loving children, Lisa Romo (Jan), Karen Rinta (Paul), Trever Rinta, Julie Munro (Bronze) and Neil Rinta (Corrine). Cherished grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Merv was a prison guard at Burwash prison; then retired from CN - Via rail. His passion was trapping, hunting, fishing, flying and running his bear business. He was a member of the Trapper’s Association and Sudbury Game and Fish. He leaves behind memories that will last a lifetime with many, many friends and family. A Celebration of Mervine’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 2-6 pm at the Lockerby Legion branch 564, 2200 Long Lake Rd., Sudbury.

  1. Very sorry for you loss. I had worked a long time with Merv at Algo yard & CN never did I hear him say a harsh word. Ate his quail, had him tie his plane at our dock & every time we would meet we would start where we left off. I used to admire his knowledge of the outdoors & his Fin heritage.
    My father & Merv used to exchange language & he would call Merv Raw Haw as a nickname.
    He will be missed at our CN pension party & all other gatherings. Our deepest condolence & he
    will be in our prayers. RIP RAW HAW!!
