Rancourt, Marcel E.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Marcel Edmond Rancourt at the age of 84.  With the storm starting to cover everything with snow over Sudbury Tuesday afternoon on November 21, 2023, Marcel left this world at peace surrounded by his family at Health Sciences North in Sudbury.

Beloved husband of 63 years to Carmelle Rancourt (née Nadon). Devoted father to Suzanne (Andre Beaudry), Guy (Gaetanne Savoie), Ginette (Marc Gagnon). Proud grandpa of Chantal (Nathan Laakso), Shawn (Jessica Grochowski), Steven, Riley and great grandpa to Isaac, Aaron, and Julie. Dear son of Edmond and Bernadette (née Quevillon) predeceased. Loving brother to Nicole (Armand Desjardins), Gerald (Carole), Raymond (Cecile), Michel (Réjeanne), Daniel, Réjean (Denise), Norbert (predeceased), Rolland (predeceased), and sister-in-law Raymonde, Madeleine, and Roni (predeceased). Marcel also had a loving extended family with many in-laws; Henri Pomerleau, Madeleine Rancourt, Monique (Todd Kennedy), Gisele (Michel Lahaie) and Louise (Andy Hancharyk). Predeceased by his sister-in-law Réjeanne Pomerleau, Isabelle Rancourt, Madeleine Nadon, and his brother-in-law Oza Rancourt and Gilles Nadon. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and several good friends that he made along the way.

Marcel’s light of his life was his family.  He poured his whole heart into loving, helping them and to give the shirt off his back when you were in need.  He will always be remembered for having and open door policy no matter who you were and being everyone’s pépère.

He always saw the good in people and forgave easily.  Let us reminisce about him in every sunrise, sunset and rainbow we see.  A sign that he is watching over us.  He will be deeply missed. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donation’s in Marcel’s memory can be made directly to a charity of choice.
