In Loving Memory of Arvo Paulamaki, 86 years who passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Extendicare York. Beloved husband of Anneli Paulamaki (nee Piri). Loving father of Anna-Leena Thrush (Larry), Pirkko Paulamaki, Marja Paulamaki (Dale) and Helena Paulamaki-Desjardins (Todd). Cherished grandfather of Larry Jr., Eevaleena, Mirkka, Robert, Bevin, Helena, Joshua, Zachary and great grandfather of Ethan, Ivy, Violet, Iris, Madelyn, Mason, Rowan, Atley and Henry. Born in Finland, Arvo is predeceased by his parents Urho and Aino (nee Salmi) Paulamaki as well as his siblings Jaakko, Anna-Liisa and Sinikka. Dear brother of Pirkko of Finland. Arvo was a self-made man with a true sole of a Fin, filled with SISU. That strength and determination will be carried on through his family. Arvo was a top diamond driller for INCO, but his true passion was carpentry. He built every home he owned for his family, which he loved so deeply. Arvo was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Due to the social gathering restrictions at this time, a Celebration of Arvo’s Life will be held at a later date.

3 Condolences

  1. Dear Anneli, Helena, Marja, Pirkko, Anna-Leena and families,
We were so sorry to hear of your dad Arvo’s passing. We are so fortunate to have known him for over 57 years. We remember our weekly sauna visits on Ronald Crescent. Bill enjoyed their hunting and fishing excursions, including Arvo’s ‘King’s Buffet’ style breakfasts. He was an excellent example of a person with ‘suomalainen sisu’, always up to the challenge. We will miss him and his good nature and humour.
    With deepest sympathy,
    Arja and Bill

  3. This is such a loss for all of us. Papa was full of humour and wisdom. I will always miss spending my summers at camp with him and Mummu. So many great memories. Whenever I do projects around the house I always think of Papa and how hard of a worker he was and it always motivates me to do better and finish the task. I am grateful to of had him in my life and will always miss seeing his face light up the room when we visited with our girls. He will deeply be missed by everyone.

    Love you Papa.
