O’Byrn, Patrick

It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick “Patty” O’Byrn announce his sudden passing on November 17, 2022, at the age of 66 years at Health Sciences North in Sudbury.  Patty is lovingly remembered by his partner and soul mate of 29 years Tammy Luhta, his children, Robin (Melissa), Chris (Emma), Katie (Pete) & Peghan (Jesse) and by his 5 granddaughters Valaree, Rowan, Ava, Quinn, and Tori. He will be forever missed by his siblings, Edna (Danny), Daniel (BettyAnn predeceased), Karen (Tom predeceased), Mike (Nancy) and Maureen, as well as numerous extended family members and many friends. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph Daniel and Mary (nee Tyo).

Patrick was raised in the small community of Levack and spent most of his life there. His passions included his family, hockey, golf and riding his motorcycle.  His love for hockey eventually led him into coaching and to this day, he is stilled called “coach” by many people. His easy-going outlook on life, made it easy for him to make friends. His quick wit and sense of humour made “dropping by Pat’s garage” a daily routine for many. He was known to guide others through periods of uncertainty, and he always knew just the right thing to say to brighten one’s day. Life has changed for many with his passing.

A Celebration of Pat’s Life will take place Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Golden Age Club in Onaping, 109 Service Road, Onaping, ON at 6:00 pm. Please bring your funny stories and memories to share with all.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Onaping Falls Food Bank. And if you can, in memory of Pat, please help a child experience the joy of hockey.
