Nikitin, John

It is with great sorrow that the Nikitin family announces the passing of our family patriarch John “Olgierd” Nikitin on January 22,2023 at the age of 85 years old surrounded by his loving family.

John “Poppi” son to the late Henryk Nikitin and Heldegarde Grochowska, devoted husband to his beloved wife of 60 years Norma Nikitin (Predeceased); loving father of Jayme, Tjondra, John Jr. (Brigitte); devoted grandfather to Amanda, Matthew, Meghan, Sean, Jonah, and Alexi; cherished great grandfather to Jacob, Jaxyn, Myles, Dylan-Rose, Raven and Guy; dear brother to Vic predeceased (Lucia (Anne)).

John lived his life to the fullest, to know him was to love him, through his accomplishments and worldly experiences he loved to share his stories, fill a room with laughter, and was always the life of the party, often tearing up the dance floor. A man of heart, loving and devoted, a selfless caregiver to his late wife Norma, and constant cheerleader for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. John was a pillar of strength, determination, and kindness, his life was full of warmth and laughter, living for the memories he cherished with his family.

We wish to give our thanks and gratitude to all the medical staff at Health Sciences North and Maison McCulloh Hospice who showed immense kindness and took such good care of John Nikitin during his time in their care.

At John’s request, there will be no funeral service. However, a Celebration of his Life is to be held on June 10th,2023 between 2:00 – 7:00 pm at 2989 Henri Street (light lunch will be provided). Those of you who knew John know he had a passion for life and never slowed down, he was determined to experience everything life had to offer, especially when he could do it with those he loved most.
