Montgomery, Donald Jarvis

It is with great sorrow the family announces his peaceful passing at the age of 87 on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Health Sciences North. Loving husband and best friend of Margaret Montgomery (Leach) of 60 years. Cherished and loved father of Robert (Patti) and Cynthia Cacciotti (Dino), special grandfather to Chase Montgomery (Amanda), Craig Montgomery, (Chloe), Cody Cacciotti (Christina), Kaitlin Cacciotti (Brandon) and dear Great Grampy to Carter, Clark, Cal and Andrew Montgomery. Predeceased by his parents Claude and Lea Montgomery and stepfather Clarence Hines, brothers Lyle (Middy), Russel (Liz), Morris (Gloria) and Ben Hines (Anne) and sister Lorraine Evershed (Ted). Survived by Eileen Leclair (Horace) and Janie Barbeau (Phillip). Loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. Don's quick wit and zest for life will be greatly missed. Don was a miner at Falconbridge for 31 years and was a proud member of Mine Mill Local 598. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends at his camp at Millard Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and loved a good party. At Don's request, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Lockerby Legion on Long Lake Road on February 23, 2017 from 2:00 to 7:00. Donations to the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of the 8th Floor of Health Sciences North and to Dr. Syan and Dr. Jason Sutherland for their compassionate care as well as to Cara and Heather Edwards.

Very sorry to hear of Don’s passing. Always a great time when my Dad would bring my family to your camp. My kids still know him as Boss Hawg. One of my father’s best friends but now they are together and I’m sure they are playing cribbage or talking about old times at the mine.
