MOGENSEN, Nels Alexis “ALEX”

March 6th, 1970 – May 25th, 2020

Beloved father of Amelia Maritsa Monette Mogensen (Michael Crozier). Loving partner of Paula McNamara.  Loving son of Nels Wayne (predeceased) and Muriel Mogensen.  Dear brother of Ingride Mogensen (Stephan Mantha). Best friend of Bryan Tuuri. Sadly missed by many friends, as well as extended family in France and Canada. Alex passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones after a short illness. Born in France and raised in Canada, Alex worked for the family business (The Mogensen Moccasin Company) before starting his career in Information Technology at Laurentian University. He had a love for the outdoors, was the host of his own radio show “Off The Cuff” on CKLU 96.7 and acted as a self-appointed food critic. He was loved by all and very well known for his positive outlook on life, his smile, sense of humour and joie de vivre. A man who truly loved travelling to new places and spending nights laughing around a campfire with friends and family. A celebration of life in memory of Alex will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alex’s memory can be made directly to CKLU or a non-profit organization of your choice.

  1. My heart breaks for my daughter Amelia, Grandmaman, Ingride, Paula and Stephan. Alex had a great smile and a wonderful sense of humour that always reminded me of his father! He was a loving dedicated father who enjoyed nothing more than to travel and try new foods with Amelia. He also had a great passion for any cause he believed in. Paula, thank you for taking such good care of Alex. I know how much you are appreciated. Grandmaman, hoping you can take comfort in all the wonderful memories you have of your son. You were always there for both Alexis and Ingride.
They are both successful individuals who I know you will always be proud of. Hugs to all of you.

  6. I cannot find the words to express the sadness that I feel for you all on the loss of someone obviously so loved not only by his family but by so many others. We only met Alex a few times at family gatherings to which we were invited. However my close relationship with his mother gave me a good insight into his life and the person he was. He was loved by many. His life was well lived.
