McLaughlin, Timothy (Tim)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tim McLaughlin on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Maison McCulloch Hospice at the age of 54 with his loving family and friends by his side. Born in Sarnia, ON to Joseph (predeceased) and Gloria McLaughlin (Miller). Beloved brother of Dianne Shephard (Dave) and Jim (Diane-predeceased). Cherished best friend of Dominique Pinard and good buddy of Ron Ramsay. He will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He enjoyed fishing with his special fishing buddy Cindy Curry. Tim was a double lung transplant recipient (March 2013) and a big advocate for organ donation. Tim joined the LDSG Inc. in April 2008 and accepted a position on the Board of Directors in April 2010 as the Membership Director up until recently when his illness could not permit him to carry on his duties. As per his wishes there will be no visitation. A special thank you to Dr. Knight, Dr. Cano and the entire staff on 4 north at H.S.N and Maison McCulloch Hospice for their care and compassion. A Celebration of his Life will be held in Sudbury and Sarnia at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ontario Lung Association and Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated.

  2. Dear family and friends of Tim,

What a blessing to have online services like this to share such wonderful messages! It has been decades since I was last with “cousin Tim”, but it’s clear from the previous messages that he has only gotten better and better with age. I remember him being a wonderfully friendly and kind person. If memory serves, he was a talented skater and that offered us extra chances to see him. Our world needs more Tims in our world, and we all have a little Tim in us from our experiences with him. May those positive characteristics Tim shared with us continue shine out in the world through us in so many productive ways!

    With much love,

Steve Long (son of Cliff & Marilyn Long from Bowling Green, Ohio)

  3. Tim was the first person we met when we were in Toronto for Reg’s transplant. His warmth, sense of humour and willingness to share what he knew about the process led to a four year relationship that transcended health. We grew to love him as a great person and will miss him. Condolences to Dominique and his family.

  4. Tim was the first person that we met while Keith was testing for his lung transplant. Always positive, and a great conversationalist, we both enjoyed getting to know him in the months leading up to both our surgeries.
Tim’s zest for life, fishing and the perfect pun will remain unmatched by anyone. He will be missed.
Our sincerest condolences to the family and to his dearest friends.

  5. Dominique, Gloria McLaughlin and Families,
We were very sad to learn of Tim’s passing although we had been prepared by you Dominique and by Tim himself in his updates. We also met Tim through the Transplant Program in Toronto
and so agree with the assessments of others about his kindness, thoughtfulness and sense of humour. We were kind of shocked at first after learning of his death, to discover a Facebook joke he had posted the day before he died. Ten it made us smile…how typical! We enjoyed the part of Tim’s life we got to share and will very much miss him now he is gone. We like to think of him laughing and fishing in Heaven. No pain. Breathing easy. We love you, Tim.
