McCulloch, Susan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan McCulloch, who lost her short but courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Susan passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones. She faced her cancer challenge with unwavering courage and determination and never lost her spirit or her will to live.

Survived by her beloved son, Sam Legault, parents, Bruce and Sandy McCulloch, brother Scott (spouse Denyse), sister-in-law Marett McCulloch (spouse Stephen, pre-deceased) numerous nephews and one niece.

Susan was a woman of strength, and resilience. She was a fierce competitor and dedicated equestrian with years of experience as a coach, examiner, and instructor. Her passion for the sport was unwavering. She was very proud to have graduated with honours, in her fifties, from Guelph University with a degree in Equine Studies.

An avid animal lover and former owner/operator of Sue's Pet Depot, she protected, volunteered and supported care and adoption organizations and believed no home was complete without a dog. And usually more than one!

Thank you to the Maison McCulloch Hospice and Bay Shore Nursing Services, in particular Nurse Deanna.

There will be a private celebration of life for family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Susan's memory to Pet Save Sudbury or Maison McCulloch Hospice, both organizations she volunteered for and supported.

  10. A few months ago, I told my friend, “I can’t imagine a world without you in it.” I still can’t but, I am grateful for every
memory; every summer hack with Vixen and Pete, escaping random chickens on the trail, my tree, every belly laugh, every supportive word, everytime your words kept my ass in my saddle, every silly tear we shed together, every time I leaned on you or you leaned on me, dancing in your kitchen with Paul and Sandra and Tim, horse shows, stall cleaning, deep conversations over wine, every success and every loss we shared, every joyful moment. I’ll miss everything. I love you Sue. See you in the next place. Give Vix a scratch for me and tell Pete I say “hi”. 💔
