McCourt, Tom

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Tom McCourt on Thursday, March 25, 2021 with family by his side at Health Sciences North at the age of 68 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Karen McCourt (nee O’Byrn). Loving father of Julia (predeceased), Lisa (Shawn Harber), Tom (Andrea), and Megan (Kyle Harber). Adored grandfather of Brodie and Marleah Harber, Ethan, Cole and Sunny Harber, and Ruth and Russell McCourt who were the loves of his life. Cherished Brother of Linda (Bernie Frohlick), Cheryl (Ken Ristimaki), and Susan Benoit (predeceased). Special uncle to Jody and nephew to Patrick. Dear brother-in-law of Edna Vaters (Danny), Maureen, Mike (Nancy), Pat (Tammy), and Danny O'Byrn. Born on December 31, 1952 in Sudbury, ON, he was the son of the late Red and Ruth McCourt (nee Aird). Tom retired from INCO as a Purchaser and spent the last 15 years living his dream with his best friend and soulmate on the golf courses in Florida. He will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor, always making his friends and family laugh and for being the most loving and patient father and grandfather. Being a friend of Bill W, he set an example for his family and friends, inspiring many, and was sober for 39 years. Tom held a special cause very close to his heart, in honour of his legacy the family will be making a contribution. If anyone would like to contribute in his honour, please contact the family for information at mccourt_meg@hotmail.com. In keeping with Tom’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.

  4. Our condolences to the McCourt family. Tom introduced us to boating on lake Nipissing when we had just purchased our first new boat while camping at Glenrock. Because of Toms patience and encouragement, he led us through beautiful scenic waterways on lake Nipiissing. Thanks to Tom, our passion for boating continues today on Georgian Bay. We have payed this experience forward to other new boaters
