Mayes, Robert John

(November 14, 1941 - July 23, 2023)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert ‘Bobby’ Mayes, beloved son of Diane Mayes (nee Strasbourg), (predeceased).

He is survived by his son Randy Mayes (Renald Chauret), granddaughter Julianna Mayes, and great-granddaughter Delilah Ewer-Mayes. Granddaughter Jenna Mayes (predeceased).

Dear brother of Bruce Mayes (Donna predeceased), Diane Godin (predeceased), Charles Mayes (predeceased), Darlene Lapierre, and Danny Smith (Dianne).

Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Bobby worked as an Industrial Millwright for Neelon Casting, a position he took much pride in for many years. He enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing, and spent as much time as he could at his camp on Lake Wanapitei with his much-loved kitty-cat companion ‘Chico’.

Bob will be remembered as a quiet, solitary man with a great, quirky sense of humor. He was a very straight forward, no nonsense, unpretentious person who lived life to the fullest on his own terms on his own time.

Bob’s family would like to thank all the staff at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, Health Sciences North, and Kirkwood Place in Sudbury for helping him in his last couple of years.

In honour of Bobby’s love for his cats, donations to the S.P.C.A. or any animal shelter would be greatly appreciated.

Rest in Peace Bobby. You will be dearly missed.
