Matte, Raymonde “Rae”

September 26, 1927 – August 20, 2021 (93 years old)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raymonde “Rae” Matte (nee Carriere) on Friday, August 20, 2021, in her 94th year. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Beloved wife of Gerard “Gerry” Matte (predeceased 2005). She will be sadly missed by her family, Sue Thibodeau (Larry), Linda Shannon (Patrick), Paul Matte (Shelley), and Richard Matte (Anne). Survived by her sister Lorraine Grandchamp (Howie). Predeceased by her parents Oswald and Honora (Guy) Carriere and siblings Simone, Alice, Roger, and Hector. Cherished Grandmother to Shad (Danielle), Chad, Brett, Kris (Jen), Ryan (Megan), Matthew, Michelle, Darren, Danielle and Stephanie. Loving Great Grandmother of Kendra, Joel, Ellie, Emma, Brent, Sara, Tyler, Haven, Ramsey, and Rayden. Rae led a very full life. She was a very passionate and successful artist and a member of the Onaping Falls Art Club. She spent many summers at the cottage on Windy Lake. She loved to sew, was an avid bridge player into her early nineties and lived for being around her family and friends. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa who showed our Mother kindness, friendship and care in her final year. A mass to Celebrate Rae’s life will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Levack on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to St. Joseph’s Villa.
