Cayen, Madelyn Mary

Born on October 13, 1947 to Harold and Viola (Sharpe) Maloney (Predeceased).
She came from a faith believing home and was the god daughter of Rev. Fr. James “Babe” Sharpe. He has always held a special place in her heart and now they are reunited. Born and raised in Creighton mine, she married her sweetheart and the boy next door Denis Cayen on May 28th, 1966. Together they raised their 6 children Angela Marchioni, Lori Krueger, Rochelle McCann, Denis Cayen Jr., Denica MacDonald and Kristy Cayen. Madelyn stayed home to raise her children instilling in them the love and respect of others that she herself had grown up knowing. She devoted endless hours of her time and patience to successfully teaching her youngest hearing impaired daughter to speak and sign. In 1986 when all her children were in school and the days were quiet, Madelyn began driving school bus. She took great pride in her 18 years of service working up until the onset and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s which robbed her of her independence. This past 13 years we slowly lost wife, mum, sister, friend to the dreaded Alzheimer’s disease which took her from us on March 04, 2019. She may have forgotten who we were but we never forgot to love her as much as she loved each and every one of us. Madelyn is predeceased by her little angel Laurie Mary Cayen. She is survived by her loving husband and children who will never forget her. She was the best Gramma and will be missed by Christina and Brandon Marchioni, Erika and Kavita Krueger, Reid, Hunter and Raynah McCann, Joshua, Brandon and MacKayla Cayen, Maeve and Rori MacDonald, Noah, Daxton, Rebekah and Madison Cayen. Mother-in-law to John Marchioni, Greg Krueger, Rod McCann, Jen Cayen and Ken MacDonald. Dear sister to Jeanie Stinson (Jim), Jim Maloney (Vivian), Martin Maloney (Judy), Mary-Queen Bennett (Tim), Moira Swiatek (Waldie) and Maureen Urso (Ron). Sister-in-law to Muriel (Jim) Sharpe, Pauline (Chris) Crowder, Rochelle (Leo) Flabiano, Susie (Denis) Tucker, Cecile (Bob) Lebreton, Brian Cayen (Predeceased), Chris (Brenda) Cayen, Donna (Predeceased) Rick Blum, Eddy Cayen (Predeceased), Joanne (Akki) Tarvudd). A Special Thank you to Peter Saal for all your care and support. Madelyn had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends which were also an integral part of her life and whom she loved unconditionally. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends, always surrounding herself with their presence right up until her last day with us. We want to thank her caregivers at Pioneer Manor for their compassionate care and respect of Maddie and for welcoming her into their family when we could no longer care for her on our own at home. Funeral mass will be held Saturday March 16th at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church in Lively. Donations in Memory of Madelyn can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sudbury.
