Lapointe, Gilles

1940-2020

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gilles Lapointe with his loving wife and devoted daughter by his side on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Health Sciences North.  He leaves behind his best friend and loving wife Claudette Lapointe (nee Levesque). Beloved father of Susan Fellbaum (Rick Sauvé) and son Robert (Rose Marcotte) and stepfather of Joel Amyotte.  He leaves to morn his sisters Jeannette Delaire (Bob) and Carmen MacDonald (Barry).  Survived by his grandchildren Amber Patterson (Patrick), John Paterson (Jenn Mackenzie), Lyndsey Castonguay (Kyle), Aimée Beauvais (Royce), Robin Lapointe, Jade Forbeck and step grandchildren Nevaeh Amyotte, Wolfgang Fellbaum, Karl Fellbaum and Jenelle Wolynsky He also leaves behind his great grandchildren Jacob, Benjamin and Noah Castonguay, Athena and Ayla Beauvais, Evee Paterson, Cooper McLellan and Cohen Paterson and step great grandchildren Saul and Setho Fellbaum. Sadly, missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  Gilles worked for the City of Greater Sudbury for 30 years in the maintenance department then became maintenance supervisor. Gilles also recently celebrated his 80th birthday. He was immensely proud of his accomplishments with all renovations at Pioneer Manor.  Honorable mention to his long-time friends Andy Desormeaux, Ray Lalonde, his son-in-law Peter Fellbaum, and Uncle Jimmy whom he has now joined to rejoice in their wonderful story telling. May you rest in peace my darling, you are now free of all pain. As per Gilles wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
