Lalonde, Beulah May (née Rivard)

Beulah May Lalonde (née Rivard) passed away suddenly at her home in Coniston, Ontario the morning of Friday, March 25th, 2022, leaving a huge hole in our hearts. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband and life-long partner of 68 years Gerard "Joe" Lalonde.

Born to Stella Rivard (Kirwan) and Alfred Rivard on April 22nd, 1934, she is predeceased by her brothers Alfred (Alma Beausoleil) Lloyd and sister Leona (Gerry Lapierre).

Those who knew Beulah would never forget how they were constantly reminded of her greatest joy in life, her 5 boys!  She will be dearly missed by her sons Norm (Karen Conlon), Mickey (Lise Dubie), Randy (Karen O'Dwyer), Guy (Celeste Vaillancourt) and Brian (Tracy Cleaver).

She only ever had nice things to say about everyone and Beulah was always the most caring and loving person in the room.  Her optimism and cheerfulness would rub off on everyone around her.  Every night she would name each family member including her kids, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, which was an ever-growing list of more than 50 names, then including them in her prayers.  They will remember her for her chocolate chip cookies & sweets, her laugh, her singing and her beautiful soul.  Not a special day for them went by without receiving a phone call from their favourite "mémère" to wish them a happy day. They were always on her mind and in her heart.

Beulah married her soul mate in 1953 and became the "couples role model" for happy and long-lasting relationships.  She found great joy and satisfaction in helping others as was demonstrated by her thriving need to always lend a hand at church socials, bake sales, community events and even volunteering at a local seniors' residence for years while being named "volunteer of the year" in her early 80's.

YOUR HUG MEANT THE WORLD

"Nobody else held us so tight

Or made us feel so right

No one's eyes shined so bright with love

As our mom, who is now high above"

Mom, your hugs, and kisses have been passed down and etched in the hearts of your loved ones.  With each hug and each kiss, we share you will so fondly be remembered.  Many thanks go out to the friends from La Ruche seniors' home as well as Le Pavillon in Coniston. Friendships will be forever treasured.

A Memorial Mass is taking place on Friday, April 22, 2022, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church at 3:00 pm, in Port Elgin ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Alzheimer Society https://alzheimer.ca/sudburymanitoulin/en and Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca/  would be greatly appreciated.

  4. We were saddened at hearing about Beulah’s passing. Our love and prayers to her and her family. Whenever we think of Beulah there are floods of memories that come to us on growing up and playing with the Lalonde boys, Randy was my age, and the gentle kindness and love that radiated from Beulah & Joe through their family and out to their community. They were a beautiful example of the kind of people that lived not for themselves, but lived humbly and with fun and for their family and their community.
The world is a better place because of Beulah. You will not be forgotten.
We are grateful to have been a witness. Thank you. Diane & Joe xo

  7. Mémère reminded us of the importance of saying I love you, telling those you care about that you are proud of them and the power of a hug. I will cherish my childhood memories of Lalonde family Christmas hosted at Mémère and Pépère’s place, Mémère’s famous soup and her milk chocolate chip cookies. I will always remember her warmth, her love for her family and the beautiful marriage she shared with her best friend. Rest in peace sweet Mémère, I love you!
