As I think of Veronica, my mind wanders back to Elk Lake and the days when Dave would let me be the BIT – babysitter in training and then I finally became the babysitter. Janet always had both girls closets filled with gorgeous outfits and dressing them up was one of my favourite things to do. Dave and Di, Jan and Marc, Monica & Abbi – I’m so very sorry for your loss – she will forever have a special place in my heart.

Vero was a brilliant, humble, caring, sincere, with a willing drive and powerful woman. I had the privilege of having her as a student and she did her undergraduate thesis under my supervision. We spent many hours talking about life and dreams. I will always keep a place in my heart ❤️ for you Vero. My condolences to the family and partner.

Veronica, the shock of this news still hasn’t worn off. Remembering the so many great times together. Our high school years and all throughout university. The excitement on your face when we saw each other. All the laughs together (when you weren’t yelling at Macy for keeping you awake). Too many funny moments to share but I will cherish them all. You left this world too soon my friend. Your fun beautiful spirit was infectious. And the passion you had for all the living things around you was inspiring. The many hours we spent watching Planet Earth soaking in David Attenborough‘s voice and marvelling at the uniqueness of nature. You had a curious nature and a hunger for knowledge. I hope you’re at peace among the trees and the nature you so loved. You deserve it. Even though life took us our separate ways your friendship will always be remembered. In the words of David Attenborough: An understanding of the natural world and what’s in it is a source of not only a great curiosity but great fulfillment. With all the love, your Baxy

The loss of Veronica breaks my heart. Her smile was like no other and lit up any room she entered. She was one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure meeting. I will forever cherish our sleepovers in Elk Lake and the many cottage visits with our parents in tow. We shared a lot of good times as children and never once shy’d away from hellos and chats about our lives when we’d run into each-other. My Deepest heartfelt condolences to Janet, Dave, Monica and the rest of the Laginha and Mullen families. Rest in the sweetest peace Veronica, until we meet again. Xo ❤️

I knew your daughter to be a girl who got along with almost everyone. I can’t rightly tell you how difficult it is for me to deal with the news of her death. I urge all to stay strong durning this unfortunate time. There are a few people on earth who make wonderful impact as much as a loving daughter does. I have deep respect for your daughter, and her death won’t ever change it. Accept my earnest condolence over your loss. I’ll miss working with her and making her desserts. I’ll miss seeing her smile and hearing such praise and appreciation. She is already so missed.
