The family of Lovey Kotyluk (née Kaben) is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the age of 80, following two valiantly-battled years of health challenges. Beloved mother of Wendy (Tony Jurgilas), and John (Nicole Blais); cherished grandmother of Robert Kotyluk; dear daughter of Mary (Ostroski) and John Kaben (predeceased); devoted companion of Fred Mansfield (predeceased); and loving niece, aunt and cousin to many others. A life-long resident of Sudbury, Lovey was a member of the local chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Throughout her career as a law clerk she garnered high praise within the legal community. Lovey embraced her Ukrainian heritage by orchestrating and engaging in countless cultural functions at the Jubilee Centre. She loved to dance, and she flourished in the spotlight. With open arms, ears and a warm heart, she was consummately sensible with her advice and always enthusiastic to share it. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Lovey’s cousins, Joy Marshall and Diane Paquette, for helping keep vigil in her final hours. Much gratitude to the attentive and compassionate staff at Ramsey Lake Health Centre. Donations to Health Sciences North Foundation on Lovey’s behalf would be appreciated. A celebration of Lovey’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 11am to 2pm at the Caruso Club, lower hall, 385 Haig Street, Sudbury. A luncheon buffet will be served. Rest in great peace, mom.

Our condolences on the loss of Lovey. I remember her most from Nepewassi Lake when I was younger. She was always so pleasant, funny and had a smile. The last time we saw each other was 10 years ago at my dad’s 90th birthday and I was so happy that she was able to attend with John. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Lovey was a charming and sunny lady who was always happy to see you; qualities that live on in her daughter Wendy. She was always genuinely interested in how things were going with you, and took the time to listen intently. Also, she was a hugger. I like huggers. Lovey will definitely be missed by all who knew her. I extend my sincere condolences to Lovey’s family and friends.
