Kontturi, Kenneth “CBC Ken”

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Ken Kontturi at his "happy place on the lake" at the age of 63. Ken was the son of Arni and Marcella (nee Foran). He is survived by his wife Deborah Ullman (nee Maki) and stepson Johannes Ullman (Kaila). Also survived by his favorite brother Dave (Sandi) and favorite sister Marni (Arthur). Uncle of Chandra (Tony), Cassidy (Brett), Courtney (Matt), Kristin Hahnimaki (Mike), Becky Punkari and great uncle of Chloe, Lincoln, Kailer, Miia, Davin and Alli. He was so proud of the amazing and brilliant women they have become. He will be missed by his many cousins & extended family from Wawa, Manitoulin and coast to coast to coast, and especially his fur babies Jack and Ollie. Although Ken disliked counting years, he began his career at CKSO, then went to CBC and stayed there for 38 years, retiring in 2016. He was happiest when he and Deb had their winter vacations in the Carribean because that meant he would be soon returning to his happy place on Black Lake, spending time at "The Grotto" and enjoying the sauna. One of his proudest memories was being President of #177 Royal Canadian Legion and building the Cenotaph between Mindemoya and Spring Bay. Special thank you to Johnny and Louise Welch for all your help and friendship through the years. Celebration of Life at the Copper Cliff Italian Club Sept 12th from 3 to 7 p.m. Please come share your stories (and we know there are a lot of them). Donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund Branch 177 or Anderson Farm Heritage Society would be appreciated.
