Kohls, Gordon Arthur

In loving memory of Gordon Arthur Kohls who passed away suddenly at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario on Saturday, November 10, 2018 in his 97th year with loving family by his side. Beloved and devoted husband of 73 years to Viola “Vi” Kohls (McGovern). Loving father of Raymond (Yolande), Trudy (Brian predeceased) Funnell, Pamela (Garry) Olsen, Vicky (Ron) Roesler and Kevin (predeceased 1976). Cherished Grampa of Wendy (Rod), Cindy (Tom), Kevin (Denise), Shelley, Keith (Sandra), Lana (Dave), Randy (Kellie), Tara (Brad), Stephanie (Eric) and Jason (Laura), 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by brother in law Gino, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gord is deeply missed by his canine companion “Buddy”. Predeceased by his loving parents Herman Frank Kohls (1960) and Mary Louise Kohls (1968) (nee Staaga-Tabbert) and his 14 brothers and sisters: Harry, Charlie, Arthur, Amanda Byce, Hilda Langevin, Ida (Therrien) Walker, Florence, Beatrice Byce, Clara (Faught) Hampel, Herbert, Frederick, George, Donald and Mary Kohls. Gord was born and raised in Biscotasing, Ontario and spent his later years in Sudbury and Bisco. He served overseas during World War 2 with the Canadian Armoured Regiment of the Sherbrooke Fusiliers. On his return from the war he worked for Austin Airways Ltd. in Sudbury, Ontario for 33 years as an aircraft engineer until his retirement in 1979. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Aniol and staff, Gogama Paramedics Mike and Andre, and the doctors, nurses and staff of HSN-Emergency Department in Sudbury, Ontario. Cremation at Forest Lawn Crematorium, A Celebration of Gord’s life with interment in the family plot at Park Lawn Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
