Kingaby, Ella

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ella Cruickshank Kingaby (nee Farquhar) at the age of 79, who passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Health Sciences North. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Ella was born in the Highlands of Scotland. Predeceased by beloved husband Alan Kingaby of ten years. Loving mother of Trevor Bain (Maverine) of Sudbury, Martin Bain (Heather) of Barrie, Kevin Bain (Michelle) of Sudbury and Nanci-Lynn Penkert of British Columbia. Adoring grandma of Scott, Bayly, Christian, Charles, Taylor, Dieter, Taiylor, Marley, Jayla, Owyn, Adam and great grandmother to Olivia. Ella was fiercely proud of her Scottish culture and it’s well known by her nieces and nephews “pound for pound, she was the toughest fighter to come out of Portgordon, Scotland.” Ella was a successful realtor for 25 years, who many would still know today as “The Canny Scot”. Ella was most happy entertaining friends and family at her home and could often be found with friends sharing a pint and a poem at Eddie’s on a Friday evening. The family wishes to thank HSN staff, especially in her final days in Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Northern Cancer Foundation or Maison McCulloch Hospice. Friends are invited to celebrate Ella’s life on Sunday, November 10, 2019 (Ella’s 80th Birthday!) at Bryston’s on the Park in Guild Hall, 5 Creighton Road, Copper Cliff from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. “Expressions of Happiness” will begin at 2:00 p.m.
