McLaughlin, Eugenie

Eugenie McLaughlin (Slade), passed away on June 28th, 2021, at Health Science North in Sudbury, Ontario at the age of 59. Genie was born March 8th, 1962, in Brantford Ontario. She spent much of her life in Sudbury with her husband Gordon Craig McLaughlin, of 29 years. She pursued her passion of being a hairdresser. Eventually opening her own self-employed hair dressing shop which she loved and was very proud of. She was a woman who always loved to laugh, go camping with friends and enjoyed the conversations with her many clients. In December of 2020, Genie was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer, but she always stayed optimistic and kept her smile. She was determined to be a cancer survivor. Beloved wife of Gordon Craig McLaughlin. Mother of three children Craig Slade, Terry Jr Schandl and Jessica Malik (McLaughlin - Schandl), husband John Malik.
Grandmother of Harold Slade, Lily and Kalina Schandl, Rylee and Aria Malik.
Daughter of Flechette Slade (predeceased 2019) and Father Edwin Slade. Granddaughter of Mary Albrecht (predeceased 1995). Genie will be sadly missed by her many brothers and sisters, Eugene Slade (wife Terry), Providence Slade, Rick Slade (wife Dianne), Richere Littlejohn, Deitana (Slade) O'Deary (husband James), Flechere Kish, LaFleche Slade (wife Jennaya), Eugena Smith (predeceased 2007) and Shawn Slade. Forever remembered by her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Memories of Genie will be cherished by her best friends, Liz Cameron, Caroline, and Murray Morrell. A gravesite ceremony at the Whitefish Catholic Cemetery will take place on September 7th, 2021, at 11am.

    I am so sorry your Mom passed away so young. I was hoping Genie would live a long healthy life where you would walk with your Daughters and her, life is so unfair sometimes. I know she loved you and was so very proud of you.
