It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Karl Heyerichs, of Sudbury, ON (originally of Dundas, ON) on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the age of 54. Born in Hamilton, he was the son of the late Hannelise and Wilhelm Heyerichs. Karl was an extraordinary father to his son, William Heyerichs, who he loved dearly, soulmate and spouse of Wanda Berton, who will sorely miss him and step-father to Jayme-Lee Berton (Ryan). Dear brother of Ann Rose (Damien) and Joan Heyerichs (Mark). Cherished uncle of Jamie, Nick and Mike Rose. Karl was an avid Dragon Boat racer, who helped to raise money for local charities. He enjoyed cycling, playing Lego, shooting nerf guns, and wrestling with his son. Karl was a man of few words, but had the biggest heart, the best smile and an amazing sense of humour which will be missed by all who knew him well. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Northern Water Sports Centre, 206 Ramsey Lake Road, for family, friends and colleagues.

I was very saddened to read today in the Hamilton Spectator about Karl’s sudden passing. I worked with Karl at Dofasco many years ago, and remember him as a kind friend, always helpful. Gone far too young, I hope your fond memories bring you comfort.

My heart goes out to the Heyerichs, Berton, and Rose families.
I didn’t get to meet Karl, but from everything I’ve heard I know he was loving and well loved and will be sorely missed.
