Hamelin, Marc Michel

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Marc Michel Hamelin at the tender young age of 49 on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Born on July 13, 1970 in Shawville, QC to Rudolph and Linda (nee Racine) – predeceased Hamelin. Survived and cherished by his wife of 26 years, Lesley Hamelin (nee Godin). Loving father of Ryan and Taylor Hamelin. Sadly missed by the little light of his last 3 years, his grandson Remington Rheaume. Marc was just recently predeceased by his mother Linda in April 2019, his younger brother Mario in 1974, his mother and father in law, Mavis and Gerry Godin in 2011. Dear brother of Mitch Hamelin (Melissa, Mariah and Dawson) and Morgan Hamelin (Ciara). Special brother in law of David and Brad Godin (Shea-lee and Kyla), as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in Québec. Marc began his career in mining at the age of 18 years at Minnova Mine in Schreiber, ON and continued work in the industry until he was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma and could no longer work. Ending his career at Glencore having 30 very proud and dedicated years of mining. His passions in life were spending time with his family, riding his Harley, driving his Hemi, playing guitar, classic cars, NASCAR and hanging out with his best friend and wife. We would like to thank Marc’s team, Dr. McAlister and staff, Dr. Saidie, Dr. Pitre, Dr. Carlson, Dr. Falk and Dr. Walton. Nurses Doris, Janice, Erin, Lynn, Dominique and Shayna. Tremendous thanks to the wonderful staff at Shared Care Hospice, it takes wonderful people to do your jobs and that, you all are. As per Marc’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. My journey here on earth has come to an end! Farewell my family and friends! The family invites all to Celebrate Marc’s Life on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Forest Ridge Golf & Country Club, 3525 Forest Ridge Rd., Chelmsford, ON from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Life is what you celebrate! All of it, even its end!

  2. To Leslie and family and Ruddy: So sorry to hear about Marc’s passing. I have a lot of great memories of Marc when we worked in Schreiber. He always had a smile on his face and always had a friendly word whenever I met him. I will be thinking about the whole family on Saturday.

  4. Our deepest condolences to you & your family at this time. Andy worked with your husband & motorcyled with him on occasion. He was such a great guy & they shared many laughs. He will be missed by many & especially their mining crew. We all thought very highly of him. So sorry for your loss.
