Guy, Gary

With saddened hearts the family announces his passing after a short illness July 21st, 2016 at the age of 70, peacefully with family at his side. Beloved husband of Diane (Bergeron), loving father of Rodney (Sally), cherished “Grampa Emie” of Kory and Sara. Predeceased by his parents Roland and Audrey (Reneaud) and his brother Dwayne. Gary will be deeply missed by family, friends and the many lives that he has touched including his canine companion Russ. Having celebrated their 51st year of marriage, Gary and Diane have been soul mates since age 15. Gary played a huge part in local sports being involved in hockey, curling and baseball. His love of sports carried over to his granddaughters Kory and Sara. Their number one sports fan “Grampa Emie” could always be found in arenas or fields cheering and supporting his girls. A lineman by trade Gary continued the operations of his own company Polar Ice Expeditions after his retirement. Over the course of his 50 year career Gary became well-known and respected throughout his trade for his work ethic, knowledge and expertise in his field. Gary is also mourned by the community of Resolute Bay, Nunavut where he and Diane lived for many years. Always the centre of his life, his family will treasure the memories of his generosity and love. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held Saturday August 27th, 2016 from 1-4pm, words of remembrance at 1:30 at the Monetville Community Centre, 7198 Hwy. 64, Monetville. Donations to a children’s charity of your choice would be appreciated.

  8. Mes sincére sympathie Diane
Gary was my childhood friend and as we both left the village of Hanmer about the same time, we never united again to talk about our good times we had together. Over fifty years have passed and I spoke about Gary, my good friend often. I am saddened to hear of his passing and I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Diane and all of Gary’s Family.
