Guerard, Michael Joseph

Surrounded by the love of his family, Michael Guerard, 67 years passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth Centre, Val Caron on Monday, April 24, 2017. Beloved husband of Dianne (Whyte) Guerard. Loving father of Michael “Mike” (Lorraine), and Cathy Czerkas. Cherished grandfather of Melanie (Chris), Alandria (Mitchell), Jesse and great-grandchildren Cohen and Tenley. Dear brother of Arthur (Shirley), Elaine Fielding (Brian) and Mike “Malcolm” (Debra). Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Michael always held a special place in his heart for his foster parents Konni and Kenneth (predeceased) Scarrow and will be truly missed by his extended family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Michael retired in 2002 as a miner with Falconbridge after 31 years of dedicated service. He was blessed with a natural sense of humour and wit. Michael’s native heritage and traditions were a very important part of his life. A “jack of all trades”, who could be found passing time in his garage tinkering on old cars. An avid outdoorsman who loved nature and enjoyed fishing. A special thank you to the Elizabeth Center Staff for the care and compassion they provided Michael during his 14 year stay. In keeping with Michael’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 1-4 p.m. at the Valley East Lion’s Club, 4611 St. Joseph St. in Hanmer. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
