Gowan, Daniel

In loving memory of Daniel Michael Gowan, 57 years old. It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel Michael Gowan at his residence surrounded by his family on November 20th, 2019 from ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Dan was born on June 1st, 1962 in Sudbury and lived in the vicinity his entire life. He leaves behind his loving parents Richard and Micheline (Gervais) Gowan of Sudbury, his son Chad of Alberta, sisters Sandra, Linda (husband Luc) of Sudbury. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews Cassaundra (Ryan), Jasmine (Jonathan) and Dominique (Sierra) of Sudbury. He was also a great uncle to Ashton and Journey. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Danny was one of a kind and will be remembered for his great sense of humour and generosity. His legacy was to make sure everyone was well taken care of. He was a fun loving, thrill seeking individual, always anxiously awaiting his next adventure. Dan was a great host and enjoyed entertaining his friends as he provided them with loads of laughter. He was a very passionate person with his own dreams, visions and prophecies. Danny's service dog Princess whom he loved dearly was loyal and gave him great comfort by being at his side to the very end. For the most part, his career was in the mining industry which brought him to places like Ireland, Saskatoon and Mexico to name a few until ALS made its appearance and whisked him away from us far too soon. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to his friend Andy, the CCAC group, all his dedicated PSW’s, nurses and a special thanks to Dr. McMillan for all their continuous loving care through his pain and suffering as well as all the kind thoughts and condolences. In lieu of flowers please donate to ALS Canada in Dan’s memory – the disease he fought for so long, with so much courage. You may also contact Mary-Anne Walsh, ALS Regional Manager North East Ontario @ 1-800-267-4257 ext. 244. In keeping with his wishes there will be no service or visitation.
