Mary Catherine Gormley a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary passed away peacefully at the home of her son Billy in Hanmer, Ontario on Monday, June 19th, 2023. Cathy was born on November 21, 1954, in Saint John NB. Daughter of the late Leon H. Mooney and Mary (Floyd) Mooney. Cathy graduated from St. John Vocational School in 1973. Cambrian College in 1988 as an Addictions Councilor and The Academy of Hair Design in 1991. Cathy was also a caregiver for her husband Hank during illness. Cathy loved life had a great sense of humour and cherished her family. Her undeniable love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren was evident in that they were the loves of her life, and she valued every minute of time with them. Cathy is survived by her children Kerri, Michael, and Billy (Vicki); her grandchildren Christopher, Joshua, Alexis, Elliot Moon and Sydney ; her great grandchildren Braxton and Scarlet; her sister Christine (Murray) Whitaker of Grand Bay Westfield, NB, and her brother Barry (Linda) Mooney of Bridgetown NS, her brother-in-law Gary Watson (Lenora) of Pocologan NB and Gerald (Jackie) Landers of Saint John NB, her sister-in-law Linda (Lee) Furlong of Quispamsis NB and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Cathy was predeceased by her husband Charles Henry (Hank) Gormley, May 10, 2016, infant daughter Mary Louise, Oct 6,1980, infant son Henry Charles Mar 12, 1982, sisters Maureen Watson and Patricia Landers, brother Michael Mooney and sister-in-law Valerie Byers Mooney, Evelyn (Murne) Gordie Holstead, Marguerite (Claude) Bernatchez and Donna (Patrick) Dermody and brothers-in-law William (Billy), Robin Gormley, John (Nancy) Gormley, Louis Gormley. Dear Christine, Barry and family, I am so sorry to hear of Cathy’s passing. I have many fond memories of shared times with Cathy in high school. Cathy was so kind and so funny. Sending our deepest condolences. Sallie and I have very fond memories of growing up with all our ‘Mooney’ first cousins in Saint John. In her short journey Cathy has touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace .
