Giusti, Lilian

Lilian Giusti (nee Mutch) loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 7, 2021 at age 99. Born to Fredrick and Jane Mutch on June 16, 1921 in Rose Town, Saskatchewan, Lilian was one of twelve children, survived only by her beloved sister Ferne Young. At the age of 16 she left the family farm and bravely moved to Toronto on her own. Despite the distance between them, she always kept in touch with her large family and traveled across Canada to visit them and their families. She settled in Sudbury and made a beautiful family with her husband Gerald (Jerry) Giusti predeceased. Together they raised five children: Gerald predeceased (wife Betty), Richard predeceased (wife Cecile), Murray (wife Cheryl), Susan (husband Yvan) and Nora. As the Giusti family grew, Lilian transitioned into her cherished role as the perfect grandmother to her thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  She led by example, teaching her family the importance of hard work, honesty, unconditional love and that family is everything. A true matriarch in every sense, she showed us the way, held our hands and provided us with her unwavering support. While we will deeply miss her wisdom, advice, and amazing cooking, we are comforted knowing that she lived a truly fascinating life full of adventure and love for nearly 100 years. Her legacy will live on in our hearts forever. At this time, there will be no funeral visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at a time when all our friends and family can gather together and celebrate her extraordinary life. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated.

  2. We send our sincere condolences to Murray, Susan, Nora and your families on the loss of your mother. Our Aunt Lil always held a special place in our lives and our hearts. A supportive and dear friend to our mother, she and Noreen always enjoyed their times together, with great laughs. We also have many fond memories of our summer visits to Sudbury as children, and our times spent with Lil and Gerry at the Camp and of course, her wild blueberry pies were always the best!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and Lil will be in our hearts forever.

All our love, Greg and Maxine,
