Joanne Linda Marie Girard, age 42, (nee Dionne then Majcher) passed peacefully at the Maison McCulloch Hospice on Thursday, August 2, 2018. Survived by her lovingly devoted husband Paul Girard and her two dogs Ladee and Perle. Daughter of Helen and Alex Majcher of Dowling and Richard (Gwen) Dionne of Whitecourt, AB. Daughter in-law of Richard and Vikki Girard of Chelmsford. Cherished sister of Anthony Majcher, Adam (Melanie) Majcher, Michael (Tori White) Dionne, Carly (Jordan) Taylor, Ryan (Kelsey) Dionne and sister in-law Diane (Steve) Ryan. Special aunt to Jason, Meghan, Adrien, Kalysta-Belle, Alexie-Dawn, Gavin, Kristian, Adrien, Nicholas, Elena and Alexander (Sandy). Joanne will be greatly missed by many aunts and uncles and long-time friends Shane, Julie, Alissa and Andrew Levesque; and James, Cynthia, Paige and Austin Mack. Joanne never let anything stand in her way and hated being told she couldn’t do something just because she had Cystic Fibrosis. She sadly retired in 2009 from her career in X-ray to focus on her health. She thrived on teaching and educating others about her illness or simply anything she found interesting. Joanne had a great love for summer, where you would find her outside gardening, mowing her lawn or at camp fishing for channel cat and camping with the best partner she could have ever had, her husband Paul. There will be no funeral services or celebration of life as per her request. In her honour, please sign your donation card. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice.

Today I said goodbye to the strongest and courageous women I’ve known. She fought this illness with great class and dignity she was a remarkable woman.

I’m so sad to see this tonight.
I’ve been busy since last night planning a birthday party and today someone mentions a friend with CF that just got her second lung transplant and first thing that comes into my head was you JoJo and wishing you would have been a candidate. Then I think that I haven’t seen a post from you in awhile and wonder if you are ok. Now I realize you paid me a visit to say goodbye.

Joanne was a wonderful, kind, loving person and an amazing tech. I along with many other students learned so much from her. She was a great teacher with a lot of patience and always made time for a good laugh. She will be missed very much.
