Geden, Joan Margaret (nee Groom)

In loving memory of Joan Geden 1930-2016. We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved matriarch on November 3, 2016 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury. Daughter of the late Don and Audrey Groom (Nee McLean). Loving wife of Ed (predeceased 1985). Beloved mother and friend to Tony (Wendy) and Tim (Tanya). Sadly missed by her grandchildren Ryan, Renee, Alyssa and Raegan. Loving GG to Danica and Kennedy. Cherished sister and best friend to Lois Armstrong and predeceased by her brother Bill Groom. Joan will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and by brother’s in-law Phil (Leslie) Geden and Dr. Dennis (Sandie) Geden. Joan spent her younger years raising her family and working as a physiotherapist at the Sudbury General Hospital, retiring in 1985. She was a lifetime member of the IODE and past Regent, and a volunteer at the Northeast Cancer Centre for over 20 years. Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and attending theatre. She will be dearly missed by her 2 bridge clubs. She enjoyed travelling with her best friend Lois and spent a month in Puerto Vallarta every winter. Joan was a woman of faith and was quite active in her church throughout her life. A Memorial Visitation will take place at St Peters United Church, 203 York St., Sudbury on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass with Rev. Dawn Vaneyk officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Peter's United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
