Fortier, Shawn Michael (25)

Shawn Michael Fortier, 25, of Hearst, moved on from us on August 1, 2020, in Timmins, Ontario. His terrestrial remains have been cremated and shall be laid to rest during a celebration of life, at a future date and time that is yet to be determined. Please contact an immediate family member should you wish to attend. Shawn was born in Hearst, ON to Brenda Filion and Marc Fortier on December 7, 1994.  He went to Clayton Brown Public School in Hearst, Hornepayne Secondary School, Mountainview in Goulais River and White Pines Collegiate in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Shawn worked as a Utility Arborist Apprentice for many local companies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with Pappy, drawing, writing and laughing. Shawn especially enjoyed the good times with family and friends. Shawn will always be remembered for the life, love and laughter he shared with everyone he met. He will always be remembered as the loving Son, Brother, Cousin, Nephew and Friend we all knew he was, and worked hard to be. “If I die young, old, bitter or cold…let me not be remembered in vain of my actions. Let me not be thought of as a silent suicide if my actions represent so, whether they be consumption or derivation of such obscurity. Just know that I cannot be murdered, lost nor selfishly mistaken, because I did NOT lose my life trying to live; I lost my life already living.” - Shawn M. Fortier. Shawn is preceded in death by his loving Pappy, Ben Filion and loving Grandmother Georgina Dumont.  Shawn is survived by his Grandparents Denis & Josette Fortier, Sister Samantha Fortier (Max), Stepsisters Haylie and Trinity, Mother Brenda Filion (Sean), Father Marc Fortier (Rhonda), Niece Quinn, Nephews Kade, Landin & Rylan. Aunts Ruth (JC), Darlene (Mitch), Leona (Dan), Terri. Uncles John, Jules, Randy, Michael (Pat). An abundance of loving cousins and Shawn’s close friends also share our loss. Shawn will be especially missed by his furry, four-legged loving companion Theo. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all those who loved Shawn while he was with us for his short time.

  2. I remember babysitting Shawn and his sister Samantha. At that time Shawn was a very young rambunctious toddler. He was always so energetic and wanted to do things on his own. He always kept me on my toes. I remember every child that I babysat including Shawn. Each child provided me with special memories in their own way. Shawn will not be forgotten. My condolences go out to the family of Shawn. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
