DI SALLE, Carol

(February 28, 1973 – April 20, 2023)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Di Salle (nee Racicot), who lost her courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Carol passed away peacefully at Maison McCulloch Hospice at the age of 50.

Beloved wife to Michael Di Salle, devoted mother of Connor and Ryan. Cherished daughter of Romeo and Diane Racicot (nee Pajuluoma), loving sister to Michael Racicot and sister-in-law Lisa Di Salle, special aunt to Katelynn Poetschke, and dear goddaughter to Robert (Bob) and Marlene Pajuluoma. She will be deeply missed by her many extended family members and treasured friends who are too numerous to mention.

Carol was passionate about her work and serving the community. She was in her 25th year at Health Sciences North, beginning her career as a Speech Language Pathologist in 1998. Carol spent many years with the Intensive Rehabilitation Unit, the Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team and the North East Cancer Centre. In 2010, she became the Regional Brain Injury Resource Clinician. She was especially determined to improve the lives of those suffering from concussions. The impact of Carol’s work extends beyond the Sudbury community, but also across all of Northeastern Ontario.

Carol loved spending time with her 3 "boys". A devoted sports mom, she often accompanied her husband and sons to many tournaments and competitions throughout the province of Ontario and beyond. Having grown up as a competitive swimmer and dancer, Carol was proud to see her sons compete.

Carol was also a foodie and a home decorating aficionado, frequently surprising her family with new recipes and different décor ideas at home.  Above all though, Carol was an avid reader who would often devour a new book on a weekly basis.

Carol leaves an amazing legacy of kindness, warmth and compassion wherever she went. She would often drop everything to help someone in need without a second thought. We are all better people for having known Carol in our lives. She will be greatly missed.

Carol’s family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the health care team that cared for her, especially at end-of-life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in Carol’s name would be appreciated.  https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/

A Celebration of Carol’s Life will take place at the United Steel Workers Hall & Conference Centre, 66 Brady St., Sudbury Ontario from 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday May 6, 2023, with Words of Remembrance at 3:00pm.
