Devost, John

Passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Health Sciences North at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of Phyllis (high school sweethearts – reunited in 1983). Loving father of Paul (Nancy), Suzanne (Yvon, predeceased), Carole (Leo), Jacques (Cindy), Robert (Diane), Danny (Julie), Jim (Kim), Sandy, Art and Heather (James). Survived by his sister Lina (Gerry, predeceased). Predeceased by his siblings Clariette (Harold), Yvon (Jeanne), Damasse (Cecile), Therese (Ziggy) and Elizabeth (Emile).  He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, great-grand children, nieces and nephews.  John will also be fondly remembered by many relatives and friends.

John retired from INCO (Vale), in 1994. He was an avid bowler and a YBC coach taking his teams to Nationals.  He was a life member and past President of the Lions Club contributing countless hours to helping the community.  John was a jack of all trades and could be counted on to lend a hand for anything, he was a social butterfly and has friends in all places.

He spent countless hours selling house tickets, building displays and entrusted as the head BBQ chef for the ladies of the Royal Purple.

John you will always be the love of my life.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held in the summer.

In John’s memory donations may be made directly to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides or to the Royal Purple Lodge 148/Sudbury.
