Davidson, Gordon Robert

In loving memory of Gordon Robert Davidson, 83 years who passed away peacefully Saturday January 28th, 2017 at Extendicare Falconbridge. Beloved husband to Patricia (née Hodgins predeceased 1995). Loving father to Debbie husband Steve Smrke of Pefferlaw, Cindy Barnard of Thunder Bay, Peggy husband Richard Lavallee of Hanmer, Patti-Lynn (predeceased 1989) and Cathy husband Daniel Lamontagne of Bradford. Cherished Grandfather to Mark (predeceased 2006), Ben (Amy), Chrissy (Mark), Tim, Darryl (Stephanie), Patrick (Jasmine), Jason (Amanda), Josh (Stephanie), Patricia (Bryden). Cherished Great Grandfather aka “Big Poppa” to Hayden, Mason, MacKenzie and Maverick. Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Jessie Davidson (Risk). Survived by his sister Mary husband Norm Schubert of North Bay. Predeceased by his siblings Jessie (Alan), Evelyn (Mac), and Jack. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

A retired INCO employee, Gord enjoyed going hunting with his brother in laws, nephews and good friends. He was an avid hunter and bowler. He enjoyed golf, playing cards and spending time with friends. In his later years, he was President of the Residents Association of Extendicare Falconbridge affectionately known as the “Candy Man” where he loved interacting with the staff and residents. He participated annually in the In-Home Olympics, enjoyed spending time playing BINGO, painting birdhouses and participating in the in-house activities at Extendicare. His favorite activities were taking care of his adopted budgies “Blue and Blue Light” and spending time with friends and listening to music at the Pub days. Gord lived for his family and extended family. He loved his “girls”, adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, PSW’s and volunteers at Extendicare Falconbridge and Sudbury Health Sciences North who assisted in all of our father’s medical care over the last 10 years.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation. Interment will take place in the spring at the Civic Memorial Cemetery, Sudbury. A Celebration Life will be planned for a later date.
