Dane, Dorothea “Dot, Mom, Nana” – January 14, 1929 – July 5, 2019

The family announces with great sorrow, the passing of Dorothea Dane (nee Jackson), beloved wife of 73 years of Allan Dane. She passed away peacefully at the Maison McCulloch Hospice with loving family at her side. Loving mother of Wayne (Joanie), Ronald (Diane), Patricia (Bob), Clifford (Mary), William (Monique), Kim (Eddie), Karen (Ron) and to our family adopted friend Gayle (Ken). Cherished grandmother to Keith (predeceased), Thomas (Janet), Jeff (Sharon), Allan-Paul, Megan (Marc), Leah (Tyson), Sarah (Dan), Pam, Tracy (Michael), Curtis (Nikki), Justin (Wendy), Melissa (Brent), Michelle, Mitch, Matthew (Cory), Rodney (Kayla), Ryan (Lynn), Hayley (Lawrence). Great grandmother to twenty-five and Great-Great grandmother to three. Dear Sister of Helen (Allan) both predeceased, Richard (predeceased) (Eva), Marion (Will) both predeceased and survived by her sister Marjorie (Tom-predeceased), brothers Robert (Leanne), Thomas (Evelyn-predeceased). Fondly and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was a Winter Texan for many years and will be missed by her Magic Valley Park friends. Mom always placed family first and was most happy when family gatherings occurred. Her fine cooking and baking was always a highlight. Mom was a woman of great faith and was a member of St. Bartholomew’s CWL for over 50 years. She was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 503 Ladies Auxiliary. Mom enjoyed her crossword and sudoku puzzles, the music of Mario Lanza and could always make time for a good card game or two. The family extends many thanks to Dr. Pearse and the staff on the 8th and 4th floors of Health Sciences North. A sincere thank you to Dr. Ravi Singh for his care, compassion and helpfulness. Thank you, Father Joseph Ogah, for administering the last rites for Mom. There are no words to properly thank the staff and volunteers at the Maison McCulloch Hospice, your compassion and professional care was so much appreciated. At Mom’s request there will be no visitation or service. A Mass in her honour will be said at St. Bartholomew’s on July 20th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
